Foodtrack privacy policy

This is a translation of the Dutch privacy policy. If the two differ, the Dutch version prevails.

Foodtrack is an app by Nada Projects (KvK 99039753, Johan van Hoornstraat 42, 2595 HR Den Haag, the Netherlands), reachable at info@nadaprojects.com. Nada Projects is the controller of the data in the app.

Which data

• Account: email address, name (if you enter it), sign-in method (Apple, Google or email).
• Diary: what you log (products, recipes, amounts, time), your library and planning, photos of meals and recipes.
• Health data: daily goals and, if you enter them: sex, date of birth, height, weight, body fat percentage, activity level and measurements over time.
• Coaching: if you link a coach, the messages between you and your coach and the parts you share with them (you choose which).
• Technical: per AI analysis the date, the model used and the cost, to monitor misuse and costs.

What for

Only to make the app work: calculating your intake, tracking your goals, letting your coach look along as far as you allow. No ads, no profiling for third parties, no selling of data, no analytics or tracking services.

Legal basis

Performance of the service (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)) and, for health data, your explicit consent (art. 9(2)(a)). You withdraw that consent by deleting your account.

AI analysis

A photo, link or text that you have analysed is sent to the AI provider you choose in Settings: Google (Gemini API, the default; paid tier, where Google does not use the input to train models and keeps it for a short time at most to detect misuse), or, with your own key, OpenAI or Anthropic, in which case you are a customer of that provider yourself. Only that input is sent; not your name, weight or other data. These providers may process data outside the EU, based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. Every result is an AI estimate that you check yourself.

Where and how long

The data is stored with Supabase in the EU (Paris), encrypted at rest and in transit. It is kept as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, all your data and photos are erased immediately; products you shared with everyone stay in the catalogue without your name. The data of an individual analysis (the text or link you entered and the result) is erased after 90 days, unless it belongs to one of your recipes; failed analyses are deleted after 30 days. The date, the model used and the cost are kept for the cost overview.

Other recipients

Open Food Facts (barcode lookup: only the barcode), Wikimedia (product images: only the product name), and the shop website of a product link you share yourself. They receive no data about you. An email provider sends your sign-in codes and other emails and receives your email address and the content of those messages for that purpose. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, that provider knows that you sign in to Foodtrack.

Your rights

Access and portability: Settings → Privacy → Download my data. Deletion: Settings → Sign-in and account → Delete account, or without the app. You correct data yourself in the app. Questions or a complaint: info@nadaprojects.com; you can also contact the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Security

Every user only sees their own data (enforced on the server). Photos are only visible to you and, if you allow it, your coach. You can lock the app with Face ID or Touch ID. A personal AI key is stored encrypted.

No medical advice

Nutritional values and advice are estimates based on public food databases and calculation rules. They do not replace a doctor or dietitian. Consult a professional in case of a medical condition, pregnancy or an eating disorder.

Minimum age

Foodtrack is intended for people aged 18 and over.

Coaching

Only if you link a coach do they see what you tick yourself (totals, meals, photos, goals, measurements). Your coach uses that data for their own guidance and is responsible for it themselves; you can withdraw the link or parts of it at any time. Voice input is recognised on your device where possible; otherwise via Apple.
